History of Tokidoki
Tokidoki, which means "sometimes" in Japanese, was created in 2005 by Italian artist Simone Legno and his partners Pooneh Mohajer and Ivan Arnold, co-founders of the Hard Candy cosmetics line. Overall, Tokidoki produces many products, including apparel, footwear and accessories all using art and iconic characters in their designs. In 2006, Tokidoki joined with LeSportsac to create a line of handbags featuring various characters with each bag coming with a special toy. This line of handbags is highly sought after, with limited edition and rare prints fetching upwards of four times their original price. In October of 2008, Tokidoki released its own line of highly successful bags, once again featuring characters created by Legno. There are 8 designs which are pricier than the LeSportsac bags.
Along with bags, Tokidoki has a clothing line, including t-shirts, hoodies and jackets along with jewelry and belt buckles. Tokidoki also makes vinyl toys which have been very successful, in addition to customized sneakers and even a line of snowboards.
Today, as Tokidoki reaches its five-year anniversary, it has become an underground sensation offering a myriad of products, including stationary, cosmetics, sneakers, and bags. The company is a trendsetter and has collaborated with fashion mainstays like Levi's, New Era and Skull Candy.
